The word 'different' is a distinct word in a unique sense. In this universe you cannot find two individual who are same, so why do we use the word 'different’. We use the 'different' to classify something from other, say he is a boy and she is a girl.
We live in INDIA, the biggest democratic country in this world, where people cast their vote and select their leaders, not like other countries where they select their elected members by the respected parliament.
HOMOSEXUALITY is another issue in India which is increasing in enormous speed. This article is dedicated to all those people who belong to this different category.
Public discussion of homosexuality in India has been inhibited by the fact that sexuality in any form is rarely discussed openly. In recent years, however, attitude towards homosexuality has shifted slightly.
still in India homosexuality is a criminal offence under the law made in 1860,i think the time has come two review this law, because we live in a democratic country which provides us the right to express so, we are not asking this, we are certainly demanding this.
Many well know persons like writer vikram seth novel prize winner AMARTYA SEN has also advocated to change this law and u will be shocked to hear that even our former health minister A. Ramadoss also said to review this law.
THE UNITED NATION has said to India to decriminalize this law to prevent HIV/aids. But still there lot to be done by the system, it’s easy to blame the government, but the truth is government is part of our society and system, until this society changes their stands towards gay,lesbians,bisexual,shemales we cannot move on. We have to talk; we have to take people on board to fight against HIV/aids.
The main problem is no one wants to talk about homosexuality, one of the popular faces in India who has big fan following said "these people are mentally retarded, they need to clean their personal character, they need psychatric help, besides it was a culture brought from the west"
I would like to remind that in the ARTHASASTRA, an ancient Indian treatise on statecraft, mentions a wide variety of non-vaginal sexual practices which, whether performed with a man or a woman, The classic Indian text KAMASUTRA deals without ambiguity or hypocrisy with all aspects of sexual life—including marriage, adultery, prostitution, group sex, sadomasochism, male and female homosexuality, and transvestism ,forget the past, talk at present, do you know how many people live in India like this in hiding? ASHOK ROW KAVI, an expert on India's sexual minorities, estimates that 40 million to 50 million Indian men have sex with other men, though most are married and relatively few would call themselves gay, this is about only men, now think about whole India? Can the system still hide their duties and why can’t the common man accept our existence?
